Tornado Causes Significant Damage In Highlands Ranch
Highlands Ranch, Colo.— Thursday afternoon's Denver tornado damaged Highlands Ranch.
The National Weather Service provided a preliminary damage map. Preliminary reports show 6.3 miles.
We had extremely fast winds and trees—large trees—pulled out of the ground right in front of us.
South Metro Fire Rescue reported hail injuries at Chatfield State Park, but no tornado casualties.
South Metro Fire Rescue and Douglas County Sheriff's Office received 116–282 calls for help between 3 and 5 p.m., largely in Highlands Ranch.
Fire alarms, gas leaks, and tree-topped houses were reported. SMFR firemen reported no serious structural damage.
