The Minister of Information, Chernor Bah, said that Sierra Leone had made a long-standing pledge to contribute a company of troops and the necessary equipment to any approved missi
He said that the number of soldiers would depend on the assessment of ECOWAS defence chiefs and the need of the specific mission.
Bah also said that Sierra Leone had a moral obligation to support ECOWAS, as it had benefited from its peace and democracy intervention in the past.
He recalled that ECOWAS had helped end the war in Sierra Leone and reinstated the elected government of President Ahmad Tejan Kabbah after a coup in 1997.
