Mongolia’s Catholic minority gathered at Ulaanbaatar’s Steppe Arena to meet Pope Franscis.

The Mass, presided over by Pope Francis, marked the religious zenith of his visit to Mongolia.

Mongolia has approximately 1,450 Catholics in a population of 3.3 million.

Pope Franscis quoted a Buddhist teaching that states, “the wise man rejoices in giving”.

Some conservative Catholics, including Bishop Athanasius Schneider of Kazakhstan, criticized the pope’s visit.
