In a recent interview with NBC reporter Willie Geist, 

Stanley Tucci discussed how he learned he had mouth cancer,

after two years of being misdiagnosed and going through chemotherapy and radiation treatment,

as well as what the experience taught him.

Tucci experienced the loss of loved ones to cancer at the time of his diagnosis, in 2017.

I had many friends who had passed away from cancer,

as well as my first wife. I was well-informed about cancer, he admitted.

At the age of 47, breast cancer claimed Kate Spath-Tucci's life.
