Akshay Kumar, previously known to hold Canadian citizenship, has delighted his fanbase with the news of his transition into an official Indian citizen

Kumar shared an image of his newly minted government papers which listed his full name, Akshay Hariom Bhatia

Kumar stated, “Dil aur citizenship, dono Hindustani. Happy Independence Day! Jai Hind”, which translates to “Heart and citizenship, both Indian.”

In the past, there have been some sections of the community that derided Kumar for holding Canadian citizenship
