The young winners crowned during contest week return to Jackson

JACKSON, Tenn. – Miss Tennessee Teen Volunteer crowned their winner Sunday night at the Carl Perkins Civic Center.

This event consisted of 49 girls competing for the titles of Miss Tennessee Teen Volunteer and Miss Iris Tennessee Teen.

25 young women competed in sections including talent, sportswear and evening wear.

With just a few more hours to go from being crowned Miss Iris TN Teen, Townsend Blackwell shared how he felt.

“I’m currently experiencing a lot of emotion,” Blackwell said. “Obviously I’m feeling really sad. We had a huge crying session this morning just because obviously we don’t want to give up our crown, but we’re so excited for the next queens, but we’re also really happy because we’ve had a successful year.”

Blackwell also mentions that she and Annie Zhao accomplished so much during their reign this year.

As the ladies of the Miss Teen Volunteer pageant showcased their talents to the judges, current titleholder Annie Zhao, Miss Teen Volunteer, shared her favorite part of the pageant.

“Talent, because then you can see what everyone is so artistic and talented and just skilled at, and I think it showcases every woman’s brain with the beauty that they present with them,” Zhao said.

The Miss Tennessee Volunteer contest will begin Wednesday, July 26 at the Civic Center. Click here for more details.

Congrats to Becca Butler for winning the Miss Tennessee Teen Volunteer title and Katie Alexander for winning Miss Iris Tennessee Teen Volunteer on Sunday night.
