Happy birthday, Selena Gomez! The actor, musician and Rare beauty The founder rang her 31st birthday with a hairstyle we rarely (if ever) saw her wear: a full updos!
Gomez celebrated her big day in true Cancer style with a huge bash featuring all of her loved ones, including the Beckhams (Nicola and Brooklyn) and Paris Hilton. Instead of going for one of her party hairstyles, like long waves or a slicked-back braid or bun, Gomez pulled her hair up into a Inspired by Y2K upstyle with lots of curls and a swoopy side fringe that fell over one eye.
Luckily for us, the star has provided us with plenty of detailed shots via her Instagram photos from the party so you can see the full 360 of said updo. Hair salon Marissa Marino separated Gomez dark brown hair deeply to one side, then he twisted it, pulled it up, and pinned it to the back of his head. His loose lengths were then curled into locks right on top of his head; it almost looks like she has styled her hair with a claw clip, but much more glam. Gomez often wears her hair back, but a crop isn’t typically part of his styling routine; however, judging by these cute snapshots, it should be! When paired with her strapless red minidress and ankle-strap heels, Gomez could have walked out of 2003 OR 2023, and I enjoy just looking at it!
As for the rest of her birthday beauty look, makeup artist Jenna Nicole used Rare Beauty (obv) products to create a classic smoky eye, brushed brows, peach cheeks and glossy, lined lips. Gomez’s manicurist Tom Bachik she shaped her nails into long squovals and painted them a pretty neutral pale pink color, calling the end result “Birthday Barbie.” If this glam b-day is any indication of what 31 has in store for the star, Gomez is about to have her most fabulous year yet.
